Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo conducted an inspection of ongoing construction at Masinde Muliro Stadium in Bungoma, slated to host this year’s Madaraka Day celebrations.
The stadium, located in Kanduyi, has seen intensified construction efforts to ensure its readiness for the June 1 celebrations.
The National Celebrations Committee has affirmed that comprehensive plans are underway to ensure the stadium is fully prepared for this year’s Madaraka Day festivities.
Madaraka Day, observed annually on June 1, commemorates Kenya’s attainment of internal self-governance from British colonial rule.
As part of efforts to enhance national cohesion and integration, counties have been hosting two out of the three annual national holidays on a rotational basis.
Previously, all national holiday celebrations were centralized in Nairobi. Presently, Nairobi continues to host one national holiday, Jamhuri Day, celebrated on December 12th.
