Kaizer Obed, a well-known influencer on X (formerly twitter), has died, aged 25.
Obed, also known as Grand Mullah, passed away on Saturday, February 3, while undergoing treatment at St Francis Community Hospital in Kasarani.
The news of his unexpected death prompted an outpouring of grief from Kenyans across various spheres, each expressing their fond memories of the University of Nairobi graduate, often described as “brilliant.”
Digital strategist Pauline Njoroge, shocked by Obed’s passing, referred to him as a “brilliant young man.” Former Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Agnes Kagure also joined in mourning Grand Mullah, acknowledging him as a “self-motivated brand and PR strategist” who had successfully established himself as a recognized brand despite his young age.
As a budding professional in the field of Public Relations and an accomplished influencer, Obed interacted with prominent figures in Kenya’s political and corporate landscape. His visibility began during his University of Nairobi days, where he actively participated in student representation politics and various other activities.
Between 2018 and 2022, Obed earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government, complemented by studies in International Relations.
His graduation photo alongside UoN Vice Chancellor Prof Stephen Kiama had adorned his X profile for a considerable period, signifying the importance he attached to the day he obtained his degree.
Armed with knowledge and competencies, Grand Mullah went on to collaborate with politicians, assisting them in crafting strategies and marketing their brands.
His LinkedIn profile indicated his representation of organizations in “high-pressure situations” and his role in designing communication strategies for them.
