Former US President Donald Trump has stepped into the sneaker business, unveiling his own brand of kicks just a day after a New York judge slapped him with a hefty fine for misleading lenders about his wealth.
Trump introduced his inaugural line of footwear, named the “Never Surrender High-Tops,” at the Sneaker Con event in Philadelphia. Amidst a mix of applause and boos, Trump proudly displayed the flashy gold high tops with an American flag motif.
The event drew a younger and more diverse crowd compared to Trump’s typical rally attendees.
These exclusive shoes, available for $399, are now up for grabs on a freshly launched website, alongside Trump-branded Victory47 cologne and perfume, each priced at $99.
The website insists it’s not affiliated with Trump’s political campaigns, despite online posts from his campaign officials promoting the product launch.
In response to the judge’s ruling and hefty penalty, Trump vented his frustrations, accusing Justice Arthur Engoron of being part of a left-wing plot to sabotage his political ambitions. He also reiterated his baseless claims of election fraud in the 2020 election.
The judge’s decision not only hit Trump with a massive fine but also barred him from holding corporate positions in New York for three years, citing a lack of remorse from Trump and his associates.
This legal setback is just one of many challenges Trump faces, as he’s gearing up for multiple criminal trials, including one concerning alleged payments to a porn star. If convicted, Trump would be the first former US president to stand trial on criminal charges.
