Detectives in Lunga Lunga, Kwale County, are on the hunt for a 29-year-old woman suspected of fatally assaulting and killing her 7-year-old daughter.
The suspect, Mary Kioko, fled her home in Mrima after police raided the premises while she was preparing to bury the deceased.
The murder was brought to light by a village elder who received information from a resident. The witness, according to reports, heard the suspect, Mary Kioko, assaulting her daughter, Dorcas Mbithe Jotham, around 9 p.m. on February 14, using a chapati roller.
Neighbours however intervened, leading to an end to the beating.
However, subsequently, the little girl however passed on and the mother, Mary Kioko, then went into hiding the next morning.
Neighbours discovered that she had taken the deceased’s body to her rural home in Mrima village, approximately 30 kilometres away, for burial.
