Tension is high in Sibilo area, Saimo Soi ward after armed bandits laid an ambush last night spraying bullets at locals.

The assailants unleashed a barrage of bullets, instilling fear among locals and leaving a middle-aged man critically injured after being shot at his home in Baringo County.

In the darkness of the night, the audacious bandits also made off with an undisclosed number of goats, adding to the distress of the community. With heavy arms in their possession, the bandits now hold sway over the area, prompting residents to flee their homes in search of safety.

This attack comes hot on the heels of a terrifying incident involving Baringo North MP Joseph Makilap and Baringo Woman Representative Florence Jematia. Their convoy came under gunfire in the Chepkesin area, narrowly escaping tragedy. The leaders, accompanied by a Red Cross team, were on a mission to distribute relief food to displaced families when the ambush unfolded on Saturday.

The atmosphere in the region remains charged with fear, driving locals to seek refuge elsewhere amid concerns of further attacks. Additionally, there are apprehensions regarding the disruption of education, as the few existing schools may be forced to close their doors in light of the escalating violence.
