The government is exploring a strategy to reintroduce low-cost yet healthy and accessible alcoholic beverages as part of its efforts to eliminate illicit alcohol from the market.
Gachagua further revealed that discussions are underway with a prominent alcoholic beverage manufacturer regarding the production of these affordable beverages.
“We have urged the manufacturer to develop a budget-friendly, wholesome, and accessible alcoholic beverage. We will address taxation concerns. The primary issue lies with potent and hazardous portable spirits, which have had detrimental effects on families. As a government, we are committed to eradicating illicit brews,” stated the Deputy President.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua announced that, under this initiative, the government intends to tackle taxation barriers that hinder the production of affordable and nutritious alcoholic brands.
The DP also clarified that the ongoing crackdown targets both manufacturers and vendors of illicit and unlawful alcoholic products.
