Lawyer Faith Mony Odhiambo has emerged victorious in the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) presidential election, securing the prestigious position after defeating four other candidates.
Odhiambo’s win marks the transition from Eric Theuri’s two-year presidency, who served from March 2022. In a closely contested race, Odhiambo clinched a total of 3,113 votes, surpassing her closest competitor, Peter Wanyama, who garnered 2,165 votes. Carolyne Kamende secured the third position with 888 votes, while Bernard Ng’etich and Njoki Mboce received 833 and 511 votes respectively.
Notably, Odhiambo demonstrated widespread support by leading in all six polling stations at the Milimani Law Courts and securing significant backing from regions such as Nyeri, Homa Bay, Nanyuki, Kisii, Machakos, Kisumu, and Nakuru.
Out of the 15,715 registered members, a total of 7,521 participated in the LSK elections. Of these, 7,510 votes were declared valid, reflecting a considerable engagement from the legal community in determining the future leadership of the Law Society of Kenya.
