Murder suspect John Matara will today appear before Justice Kanyi Kimondo for a hearing on the bail application.
Matara stands accused of the murder of socialite Starlet Wahu, a case being heard at the High Court in Nairobi. Currently detained at the Industrial Area Remand and Allocation Centre, Matara is seeking release on bond, asserting that he poses no flight risk and has a stable place of residence.
However, the state has vehemently opposed Matara’s application, citing concerns over witness protection and the ongoing investigation.
In compliance with the court’s directive issued on February 26, both parties have submitted their respective arguments and responses, along with a probation report, in anticipation of today’s crucial session.
