Police in Mwingi Central sub-county are investigating a disturbing incident where a man beheaded his cousin’s wife before fleeing with her head.

The suspect, identified as Peter Muvea Musili, 36 years old, reportedly attacked Margaret John, 49 years old, with a machete as she was returning home from a nearby shopping center in Kyanziani village, Kairungu location, Mwingi Central sub-county.

Tragically, Peter was later cornered and killed by an angry mob about 20 kilometers away from the crime scene. The irate mob descended on him with kicks and blows which forced him to confess where he had hidden the victim’s head.

The police responded a few moments later and recovered Peter’s body, alongside Margaret’s head. The deceased’s body and Margaret’s head were transferred to Mwingi Level IV hospital, where her other body parts had earlier on been taken following the gruesome incident.

Daniel Kyumbo, the local chief, confirmed that the suspect and Margaret were cousins. He also revealed that Peter had previously attempted to set fire to his cousin’s house before the horrifying attack took place.
