Officer Attacked While Returning to Muhoroni
Homa Bay County Police Commander Lawrence Koilem said the officer was driving his seniors and colleagues back to their workstation when he was attacked.
According to Koilem, the officer was among those deployed to Homa Bay as part of security reinforcements ahead of the political rally.
He was reportedly struck on the head by a stone thrown by a rowdy youth.
Eight Other Officers Injured
Koilem also confirmed that eight other police officers sustained injuries during the unrest.
Seven officers suffered minor injuries and were treated before being discharged, while another officer who sustained a serious head injury was transferred to a hospital in Kisii Town for further treatment.
The incidents occurred amid heightened tensions surrounding the Linda Mwananchi rally, which attracted opposition leaders and supporters to Homa Bay.
