In a concerted effort to combat the illicit trade and consumption of shisha products, a collaborative operation led by the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) culminated in the arrest of two suspects and the confiscation of 109 shisha pots on Tuesday evening at Alfakher Lounge, situated along Mirema Drive in the Kasarani area.

The operation, which extended into the early hours of Wednesday morning, saw the apprehension of Patricia Wanza and Asmelder Wambui, the alleged perpetrators involved in the illegal trade.

The seized items include a total of 50 father flavors, 170 pieces of al-sultan flavored products, 400 coconut charcoal pieces, and 16 charcoal carriers. Additionally, authorities confiscated 140 orange mint alfakher flavors, 29 blueberry mint flavors, 50 grape mint flavors, and various paraphernalia used in shisha consumption.

Both suspects are currently detained at Kasarani Police Station pending further legal procedures.

The joint task force responsible for the successful operation comprised personnel from NACADA, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, and the Kenya Police, underscoring the collaborative approach in combating the proliferation of illicit substances.

NACADA’s intensified crackdown on shisha products, initiated since December 2023, has seen over 60 raids conducted in clubs and entertainment venues across Nairobi and Mombasa, demonstrating a firm commitment to curbing the sale and use of such substances.
