The High Court in Nairobi will today deliver its judgment in a case where six suspects are accused of killing former Juja MP George Thuo in 2013.
Throughout the trial, the prosecution has presented a compelling case, summoning 30 witnesses and submitting ten exhibits as evidence.
Thuo tragically passed away on the night of November 17, 2013, following an evening at a restaurant in Thika town, under circumstances suggesting poisoning.
The accused in this case are Paul Wainaina Boiyo, Christopher Lumbasio Andika, Andrew Karanja Wainaina, Samuel Kuria Ngugi, Esther Ndinda Mulinge, and Ruth Vanessa Irungu.
Boiyo, the proprietor of the Thika restaurant, and Lumbasio, a friend of Thuo, are among those implicated. Ndinda, identified as the waitress who allegedly served Thuo, and Vanessa, the woman who reportedly bought him a beer at the club, also stand accused.
After thorough investigations, authorities concluded that Thuo’s demise resulted from “haemorrhagic gastroenteritis acute due to suspected chemical poisoning.” Despite their denial of the charges, the court deemed the suspects fit to stand trial in January last year, following testimonies from 30 witnesses brought forth by the prosecution.
Justice Roselyn Korir is slated to announce the court’s decision at the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi today, marking a pivotal moment in this prolonged legal saga.
