Washington Akumu, a former Nation media business journalist and veteran editor, has passed away.
His family and friends reported that he died in the hospital after suffering a heart attack on Monday, April 22, evening.
Akumu had been on the road to recovery following a series of operations at a Nairobi Hospital. He had been battling cancer of the spine and was undergoing chemotherapy until his passing.
Having served as a business editor with the Nation Media Group, Akumu left the company in 2014. He then joined Redhouse Public Relations firm, where he worked as the Group Account Director. In 2016, he became the Managing Director at Media Edge Public Relations, a position he held until his demise.
