Fifteen years ago, Diamond Platnumz captivated audiences with his breakout hit ‘Nenda Kamwambie.’ The song served as a heartfelt tribute to his then-lover, Sarah, with whom he shared a profound connection from 2006 to 2009.
Recently, the singer and Sarah unexpectedly crossed paths at one of Diamond’s concerts, where Diamond openly expressed his enduring affection for Sarah, acknowledging her significant influence in shaping his character.
He admitted that while he still held feelings for her, Sarah had since moved on and started a family of her own.
Soon after, Sarah shared her perspective with Tanzanian media outlets, saying that, to her, the bond she shared with Diamond was profound and incomparable. She disclosed that she believed many songs on Diamond’s debut album were inspired by their relationship, serving as a testament to their connection.
“He has never said he loves anyone the way he loved me. We lived together for about three years from 2006/2007 to 2009. The song was originally called ‘Nenda Kwamwambie Sarah,’ but he cut out the front part. I think all the songs on his first album he wrote because of me,” she shared.
Despite their romantic past, Sarah stated that she and Diamond maintained a friendly relationship and acknowledged Diamond’s efforts to reconnect with her over the years.
Sarah expressed admiration for Diamond’s musical accomplishments, stating that she took pride in his success.
“Parting ways isn’t war. We are friends. He has been trying to reach out to me for a long time to do an interview, but I have always been hesitant. I feel ashamed.”
Adding,
“He often calls me onto the stage, but I feel embarrassed to go up. He speaks on his side, but I have never spoken. Many people have wanted me to speak. I love the way he does his music. I am happy for his success,” she remarked.
Sarah revealed that she had been a source of encouragement for him, urging him to pursue his musical passion wholeheartedly.
