Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko intervened on Monday after blogger Andrew Kibe was confronted by a group of angry youth during a TikTok live session.
In a video, Sonko could be seen calming down the angry mob, which wanted to confront Kibe over their previous fallout with the former governor.
Kibe was hosting Sonko at a restaurant along Ngong Road when a group of youth, suspected to be from Kibra, stormed the location demanding Kibe’s ejection.
The rowdy youth, who had seen the interview on Kibe’s social media accounts, were persuaded to retreat by Sonko.
The incident, which disrupted the interview, almost turned violent when one of the youths openly threatened to harm Kibe over his controversial remarks on trending issues.
During the interview, Sonko revealed that he is currently jobless and has taken a low profile.
Last year, Sonko and Kibe had a social media feud after the former governor urged Kibe to refrain from mentioning his name on his YouTube show and invading his private life.
Sonko expressed frustration over Kibe’s alleged attacks on Kenyan celebrities, particularly women. In retaliation, Kibe shared a video criticizing Sonko, calling him a loser and advising him to humble himself.
However, during the recent interview, the two seemed to have buried their differences, sharing drinks and jokes, which were streamed live on Sonko’s Twitter account.
