A 25-year-old madrassa teacher in Malindi, Kilifi County, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for sodomizing a 15-year-old student. Yusuf Charo Dole was found guilty of defilement, a violation of section 8[1] as read with section 8[3] of the Sexual Offences Act No. 3 of 2006.

The incident occurred on July 29, 2022, in Mambrui, Magarini Sub County, within Kilifi County. In her verdict, Malindi Chief Magistrate Elizabeth Usui ruled that the evidence presented by the prosecution was sufficient to support the charges against Dole.

The prosecution, represented by Counsels Kennedy Kirui and Barack Chirchir, presented four witnesses and other exhibits to establish the case against the suspect.

The Magistrate noted that the Islamic tutor had given the minor a green pill when the latter visited him after falling ill, instructing him to swallow it.
