Victor Kibet, the former student at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) who went missing last month, has been confirmed alive by his father, Paul Mutai.

Mutai revealed that Kibet reached out to him on Friday, assuring him of his well-being. However, details regarding his exact whereabouts and companions remain undisclosed.

Kibet, aged 23, had been reported missing since March 18, sparking an intensive search effort by both authorities and concerned individuals.

Initial reports suggested that Kibet was last seen enjoying a game of pool at an entertainment joint in Kiambu county before being allegedly seized by individuals claiming to be police officers. Eyewitnesses recounted witnessing him being forcibly taken into a waiting Subaru, which swiftly departed from the scene followed closely by a double cab.

Amidst his disappearance, Kibet’s lavish lifestyle, seemingly beyond his known means, raised speculation about the source of his wealth. Despite lacking a known job, Kibet was known for flaunting high-end vehicles, prompting questions and discussions on social media.

While theories emerged linking his abduction to online fraud activities, Kibet’s father dismissed such claims, asserting that his son had discussed plans to start a business with friends but had not provided further details.

The circumstances surrounding Kibet’s disappearance and subsequent contact with his family remain shrouded in mystery, leaving lingering questions regarding his ordeal and the events leading up to his reappearance.
