Police in Bomet have arrested seven suspects linked to a disturbing gang rape incident captured on video and circulated on social media platforms.

Bomet County Police Commander Robinson Ndiwa disclosed that the seven individuals were tracked down in the Olbutyo area of Chepalungu sub-county and are currently undergoing interrogation at Chebunyo police station prior to facing court proceedings.

Ndiwa revealed that two of the detained suspects have been positively identified as Anderson Mutai, aged 38, and Weldon Sigei, aged 21. Both are alleged to have been involved in the abhorrent assault.

The primary suspect, Anderson Mutai, was the individual hosting the recorded clip.

The county police chief further stated that the video was recorded last year but was only recently disseminated on social media platforms.

The identity and whereabouts of the victim remain unknown.

“The incident was not reported to us. We are taking all necessary steps to address the situation. Distributing or displaying such content is prohibited by law,” emphasized the officer.
