Celebrated TV journalist Stephen Letoo has resigned as chairman of the Men’s Conference, succumbing to mounting pressure from social media critics.

His resignation comes amidst accusations from men’s conference attendees on social media, who accused him of hypocrisy for advocating polygamy while only marrying one wife during his public wedding held at the William ole Ntimama stadium on April 20.

Despite Letoo’s public support for polygamy, his wedding to one wife contradicted the expectations of many of his followers.

The senior political reporter, who was on holiday in Zanzibar, returned to Kenya to address the controversy surrounding his position in the Men’s Conference.

“After careful consideration, I have decided to step down as the chairman of the Men’s Conference and have submitted my resignation to the Men’s Conference office in Nairobi. My resignation is effective immediately,” Letoo announced.

He stated that his decision came after consulting with friends and allies both in Kenya and beyond.

“I will allow my members to nominate my replacement, and I assure them of my availability for consultations and advice,” he added.

Letoo also acknowledged the challenge of filling the shoes of the late Mzee Jackson Kibor, the former chairman of the Men’s Conference, and expressed his own difficulty in managing men’s affairs.
