A trailer transporting suspected ethanol was involved in an accident on Wednesday and was subsequently towed to the Ruai police station.

The incident occurred along the Eastern Bypass near Vogue restaurant when a car from Embakasi attempted a U-turn at the accident scene, causing the trailer to detach from the truck and land on it.

According to a police report, the collision resulted in extensive damage to the motor vehicle, with occupants sustaining minor injuries and subsequently receiving medical attention. Both vehicles involved in the accident were towed to the police station’s yard for further inspection.

The trailer, belonging to Raphaim agencies, was reportedly transporting suspected ethanol from the Inland Container Depot (ICD) to the Tatu City Vision Enterprise Limited godowns for storage, on behalf of Flight Forwarder Solutions.

Authorities from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have taken charge of the investigation. Their focus is on determining the origin of the ethanol, verifying the legality of its transportation, and investigating its intended use. Additionally, they aim to ascertain whether the recipient distiller holds the necessary licenses for receiving such consignments.
