A man in Harare, Zimbabwe, has become the center of attention after successfully disguising himself as a woman and even managing to deceive a policeman into hiring him for sex.
Melusi Ngwenya’s elaborate scheme came to an abrupt end when Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZPR) officer Nqobizitha Williams Bamala accused him of theft, alleging that Ngwenya stole from him while they shared a bed, with Bamala claiming he was intoxicated at the time.
Ngwenya’s arrest led to his appearance at Harare Magistrates’ Court, where he notably appeared in a blue-and-white dress, adorned with a red-and-white Nike jacket, accessorized with a bandana and a small handbag.
However, his attempt to maintain his disguise was foiled when he went to the washrooms before his court appearance and was recognized by a police officer who remembered him from a previous case heard at the same court.
The genesis of the incident dates back to January 20 of this year when Bamala allegedly engaged Ngwenya’s services, believing him to be a female sex worker. Ngwenya accompanied Bamala to his residence at the ZPR Support Unit Camp.
The following morning, Ngwenya departed while Bamala was still asleep, leaving Bamala to discover that US$200 from his wallet was missing upon awakening.
