In an early morning operation along Lusaka Road in Nairobi, police officers gunned down three suspected phone snatchers who were reportedly robbing commuters on their way to work in the Industrial area.
Makadara sub-county police boss Judy Kola revealed that the trio, riding on a motorcycle, had been a persistent menace in the area. Concerned by their activities, security officers laid an ambush to apprehend them.
During the operation, the suspects were intercepted and engaged by the police. In the ensuing confrontation, the suspects were fatally shot. Subsequently, a Ceska gun and several rounds of ammunition were recovered from the scene.
According to Kola, the suspects had been involved in a robbery incident on Monday, where they stole cash and valuables from an Indian national before escaping into the Mukuru slums.
Following the incident, police processed the scene and transferred the bodies of the deceased suspects to the city mortuary. The successful operation marks a decisive blow against criminal activities in the area, reaffirming the commitment of law enforcement to ensuring the safety and security of residents and commuters in Nairobi.
