A police officer is among three individuals arrested in connection with a shooting incident that resulted in the death of a US embassy employee outside a popular nightclub in Kiambu.

The deceased, 36-year-old Anthony Njomo, an electrician at the US embassy, succumbed to injuries sustained during the shooting incident on Saturday.

Kiambu County Commander Michael Muchiri confirmed the arrests and reported the recovery of the firearm used in the incident.

“Today, we apprehended a third suspect who is a serving officer, and a gun has also been confiscated which is said to have been fired to kill a young man,” stated Muchiri.

Homicide detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters have taken over the investigation to determine the circumstances leading to Njomo’s death.

“Two suspects have already been presented in court, where the investigating officers requested additional time to complete the investigation of the murder case. The third suspect will also be brought to court,” Muchiri added.

A Kiambu court has granted the officers 10 days to conclude their investigations. The case continues to unfold as authorities seek justice for the tragic loss of Anthony Njomo.
