Auctioneers have announced the sale of a macadamia factory owned by Kiambu politician Kimani Wainaina, famously known as Jungle. The factory, situated in Makongeni, Thika Town in Kiambu County, is set to go under the hammer, as per a notice published in the dailies.
The property, spanning 2.5 acres, boasts three developed blocks of terraced double-span warehouses, along with additional infrastructure such as a sentry, control rooms, and a shared canopy shed.
Moreover, the premises include a prefabricated shipping container office, prefabricated steel mesh sheds, enclosures, and a paved parking/loading zone/circulatory area, as detailed in the auction notice.
Plant machinery to be auctioned alongside the property comprises a nut pasteurization line, macadamia nut pasteurizer, and a nut packing line featuring commercial nut cracking machines.
Furthermore, equipment like a manual stacker, heli forklift truck, deep chamber vacuum packing machines, electronic platform scale, and caterpillar forklift are also included in the sale. The successful bidder will also acquire hopper chuff remover, color sorters, honest compressor, and nut conveyors.
Prospective buyers are required to produce a bidding deposit of Ksh10 million either in cash or through a banker’s cheque before participating in the bidding process, as stipulated in the notice.
The factory, which holds a leasehold interest for a term of 99 years, is reported to have accrued land rates amounting to Ksh117,458 as of September 1, 2023.
Wainaina, a former Member of Parliament for Thika Town, vied to be Kiambu governor in 2022 but was unsuccessful, losing to Kimani Wamatangi.
