Detectives have arrested three suspects in Nairobi’s New Donholm area on allegations of trafficking cocaine. The suspects, consisting of one woman and two men, were found with 298 pellets of cocaine concealed in three teddy bears at their residence. The arrest was made by a team of Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) and Organized Crime Unit (OSU) detectives on Saturday.
During the operation, the detectives discovered a black suitcase containing a few clothes, toiletries, and the three teddy bears. Upon examining the teddy bears, they found 298 pellets of cocaine weighing approximately 6.8 kilograms, with an estimated street value of Sh27.5 million. Additionally, several air tickets for different destinations in the name of the female suspect and Sh37,000 in cash, believed to be proceeds from the illegal trade, were also recovered.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) expressed gratitude to the public for providing actionable information and warned drug traffickers that their illegal activities will lead to arrests and prosecution. The DCI emphasized their commitment to intensifying efforts to combat drug trafficking in the country.
