Police in the Panpaper area of Bungoma County are investigating a suspected murder after the body of a 43-year-old man was found by the roadside, just 500 meters from his home.
Injuries Found on the Body
The deceased, identified as Donald Abungama, had visible injuries on his head, right ear, and mouth when his body was discovered on the morning of Monday, July 29.
According to police, the injuries suggest he may have been assaulted shortly before his death. Investigators are treating the case as a possible homicide.
Domestic Dispute Reported Before Death
Abungama’s wife told police that the couple had been involved in a domestic altercation earlier that night. She claimed to have fled the house following the dispute. It is unclear what happened after her departure.
Authorities have not confirmed whether she is a person of interest, but investigations are ongoing.
Body Taken for Postmortem
The body has been moved to a nearby mortuary pending a postmortem examination, which police say will guide the next steps in the investigation.
Local residents have called for a thorough probe into the matter, with many urging law enforcement to ensure justice is served.
