In Nyakach, Kisumu County, 51-year-old Joseph Odingo died after reportedly locking himself inside his home and setting it ablaze. Authorities say the motive remains unknown, and an investigation is ongoing.

11-Year-Old Boy Dies in Meru House Fire

In a separate incident, an 11-year-old boy tragically died in a house fire in Mitunguu, Meru County, the same evening. The boy, a Grade Three pupil at Mitunguu Primary School, was sleeping at the time of the blaze.

Police said the cause of the fire is yet to be determined. The boy’s remains were transferred to the mortuary as investigations continue.

🚨 Investigations Underway

Authorities in both regions have launched parallel investigations to determine the causes of the fires. They are also appealing for any witnesses or family members to come forward with information that may assist in the probes.

Kenya has recorded several recent incidents involving deadly domestic fires, prompting concerns over safety and mental health awareness. The government has urged communities to report signs of distress or potential hazards to local authorities.
