A woman is currently in police custody after she was arrested with 5,660 rolls of bhang in Kamulu, a Nairobi suburb located in Ruai Sub County, in one of the largest drug trafficking busts in the area this year.
According to a statement released by the National Police Service (NPS) on Tuesday, the successful operation targeted drug traffickers operating in Kamulu as part of a broader crackdown across the Nairobi Metropolitan region.
“The suspect was found in possession of 5,660 rolls of cannabis sativa,” the NPS confirmed in the statement. “She is currently in custody and will be arraigned in court to face drug trafficking charges.”
The anti-narcotics operation was launched to combat the increasing circulation of illicit substances in suburban neighborhoods like Kamulu and nearby areas.
Authorities have promised to intensify their efforts, especially in Nairobi’s eastern suburbs, which have increasingly been identified as distribution hubs for bhang and other narcotics.
The NPS used the arrest to send a stern warning to the public, urging Kenyans not to get involved in drug trafficking or narcotic distribution.
“Anyone found aiding or abetting the illegal drug trade will face the full force of the law,” police warned.
