Nairobi, Kenya – August 16, 2025 — Each Harambee Stars player will pocket KSh 3 million following their hard-fought 1-0 win over Zambia. The windfall comes after pledges from President William Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga.
President Ruto had earlier promised KSh 2.5 million to the national team as a reward for their stellar performance. Raila Odinga later topped up the pledge with KSh 500,000, bringing the total amount per player to KSh 3 million.
The cash boost has not only motivated the players but also rekindled hope among fans that the Kenyan national football team can consistently deliver strong results on the continental stage.
This comes at a time when the Harambee Stars are working to secure qualification for upcoming international tournaments, with supporters expressing optimism that financial incentives will push the team to greater heights.
