The African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024) concluded in spectacular fashion at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, with Morocco edging Madagascar 3-2 in a pulsating final to lift the continental crown.
The game burst into life early on when Madagascar’s Félicité Mantasoa stunned the crowd with a 9th-minute strike, handing the islanders a dream start.
Morocco, however, showed their pedigree. Youssef Mehri equalized in the 27th minute, before Oussama Lamlioui fired the Atlas Lions into the lead just before halftime with a well-taken goal in the 44th minute.
The second half saw Madagascar rally once again, as Toky Rakotondraibe struck in the 68th minute to level the scores at 2-2, sparking renewed hope among their traveling supporters.
But Morocco were not to be denied. Lamlioui netted his second of the evening in the 80th minute, a goal that proved decisive as the North Africans sealed a hard-fought 3-2 triumph.
The victory not only crowns Morocco as CHAN 2024 champions but also cements their status as a powerhouse of African football. The Kasarani crowd, graced by FIFA President Gianni Infantino, CAF President Patrice Motsepe, and Madagascar’s President Andry Rajoelina, witnessed history as the Atlas Lions celebrated yet another continental triumph.
