Police in Mlolongo, Machakos County, have launched investigations into a sudden death incident after the body of a man was found lying on a street early Friday morning.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) attached to Mlolongo Police Station moved to the scene shortly after the incident was reported as a sudden death.
Confirming the case, Athi River East Sub-county Police Commander Anderson Mbae said the death occurred at an unknown time and date in the Madharau area of Mlolongo Township.
According to Mbae, the deceased is believed to be a Ugandan national aged about 35 years, although the information had not yet been formally verified.
“A village elder reported to the station that a person who had been sickly and living alone had died. Police officers rushed to the scene and established that the deceased, believed to be a Ugandan aged about 35 years, may have died during the day, as he had been seen struggling earlier in the morning,” Mbae said.
Police noted that the man had no identification documents at the time his body was recovered, and his identity and place of origin remain unknown.
The scene was processed by investigators before the body was transferred to the City Mortuary, where it is being held pending identification and a postmortem examination.
Officers said the body had no visible injuries but appeared emaciated, suggesting the deceased may have been unwell prior to his death. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
