Kenyan medic Dr. Austin Omondi has publicly criticised media personality Kamene Goro over her recent account of a near-death hospital experience, terming parts of her narration as “deceptive.”
Dispute Over ‘Hours to Live’ Claim
In a recent interview, Kamene claimed that while admitted to a High Dependency Unit (HDU), doctors informed her she had only a few hours left to live.
“We had 12 hours… now we have about 4, 5, 6 hours… hours of you being alive,” she recounted.
However, Dr. Omondi—popularly known as JaPrado—dismissed the claim, arguing that such communication is highly unlikely in professional medical practice.
“This story… is very deceptive, and the razzmatazz almost sounds like a Hollywood movie,” he said.
Medical Ethics Questioned
The doctor maintained that no trained physician would communicate prognosis in such a manner, noting that both in Kenya and globally, medical professionals follow strict ethical guidelines when discussing a patient’s condition.
He further challenged Kamene to identify the doctor involved, suggesting that the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council should investigate if such conduct indeed occurred.
Kamene’s Shocking Health Claims
In the same interview, Kamene described a severe infection that allegedly required an emergency procedure. She claimed that doctors drained up to five litres of pus from her body and performed extensive surgical intervention.
“My level of infection was so bad… they removed 5 litres of pus… I’m the only one who came out,” she said.
