James Kifo Muriuki, the man who sealed his wife’s genitals with super glue in order to prevent her from cheating has been slapped with a 50-year jail term by a court in Chuka.
Principal Magistrate Njoki Kahara has after a two year long case found Kifo whose name symbolizes death guilty of sexually assaulting his wife and causing grievous harm to her. The suspect made headlines in May, 15 2020.
On that fateful day, Kifo who was 33 at that time had just travelled back home in Marimanti from Nairobi where he was working as a watch man in Utawala estate breathing fire accusing his 23 year old wife of cheating on him.
He tricked his wife and their two- year -old son who is ironically named Usijali Kifo to accompany him to visit their cousin at Kamatungu location three kilometres from their residential home.
“The suspect intention was to kill his wife and also hunt and eliminate the man he alleged he was having an affair with his wife because he had written to her parents who hill from Nyahururu in Nyeri County that they will not see their daughter again and the mother to the victim immediately sent her daughter Sh 2000 so she could travel home but the unsuspecting mother of one declined,” said area OCS Robert Musila at that time.
Along the way however he dragged his wife to Kathita river and ordered her to strip naked and reveal to him all the men she had slept with while he was living away in Nairobi. He then applied a mixture of pepper, garlic onions and salt to her genitals before sodomizing her and beating her mercilessly in front of their son.
He then sealed her private parts with superglue claiming it was a way to tame her alleged cheating behaviour.
In May 21, 2020, Kifo was arrested in his hideout at Kaningo in Kitui County by a combined team of DCI sleuths from Special Crime Unit, DCI Tseikuru and DCI from Tharaka South Sub County. He was hiding in the house of one James Murogi who was believed to practice witchcraft.
