A man who decided to visit the Nyaminde waterfall in Kirinyaga county as part of his birthday celebrations drowned as his wife watched helplessly.
Kelvin Muthomi, 28 is said to have slipped and fallen into the waterfalls on Thursday evening. George Macharia, his colleague, said that Muthomi had requested a day off in order to celebrate his birthday.
Ngucui Assistant Chief George Mungai said Muthomi fell at around 4 pm and that his body has not yet been retrieved.
“We know the history of this river and residents must be cautious despite this dry season,” Mungai said.
The police and residents are helping in the search for the body.
