Investments, Trade and Industry Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria is not a happy man following the craze that has hit Kenyans about China Square.

Located at Unicity Mall along Thika road, the store has taken Kenyans by storm due to its wide array of products at amazingly cheap prices. It has been trending on social media for the whole week.

CS Kuria, however, does not seem impressed. He has asked Kenyatta University who are the owners of Unicity Mall to purchase China City’s lease and hand it over to Kenyan traders.

The reason for his preferred move, he said, is that Chinese investors are welcome to Kenya, “but as manufacturers, not traders.”

I have today given an offer to Prof Wainaina the VC Kenyatta University to buy out the lease for China Square, Unicity Mall and hand it over to the Gikomba,Nyamakima, Muthurwa l& Eastleigh Traders Association. We welcome Chinese investors to Kenya but as manufacturers not traders
