Police in Nyamira are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of Manga Sub County Criminal Investigations Officer Chief Inspector Isaac Thiaka whose body was found at the base of the cliff.

It is unclear whether the officer took his life or was pushed down the cliff as his body had a deep cut on the head. The body was discovered 50 feet off the cliff by a woman who told detectives she was fetching firewood at the area.

The officer is said to have been in the company of another colleague the day the tragedy happened. He however left him and rushed to the station to lower the National flag as it was approaching 6 pm, the time it is supposed to be lowered.

Upon getting back, he did not find the officer raising concerns about his whereabouts. After the woman reported the incident, police stormed the area and discovered the dead was one of their own.

Traces of blood was discovered at the scene of the crime.
