The president’s surprise decision came just hours after Raila claimed that President Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania tried to mediate the standoff between government and the opposition but was snubbed.
Raila said in a press conference thar Suluhu was in Kenya two weeks ago for talks nut the government kept the neighbouring President waiting for two days.
“Two weeks ago, Mama Suluhu Samia came to Nairobi to try and mediate but she was kept waiting for two days and went back,” Raila said.
“Many eminent persons both local and international have tried to mediate between Azimio and Ruto’s side but they have been kept at bay by Kenya Kwanza,” he said.
