Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta has said that his two sons Jomo and Muhoho have six guns in total and they applied for them after their security was withdrawn.
While speaking to editors today afternoon, Uhuru who last weekend dared President William Ruto to go after him if he has a problem instead of bothering his family explained that he was not drunk when he stormed Jomo’s house in Karen.
“My son Jomo has never been interested in weapons. He was forced to apply for a gun after his security was withdrawn,” said Uhuru.
“I know there is no provision in law to extend the security of my children despite my request. I, therefore, encouraged them to apply and they followed due process. They went to DCI and even their fingerprints were taken before being issued with the licenses,” he explained.
According to the retired head of state, all the guns owned by his two sons were legally acquired.
“My son Jomo applied for three guns for his family’s protection, which are also vital in the operations at our farm, with the open safari camps, in Narok County,” he added.
“My younger son has an interest in guns and it’s because of his hobby of shooting birds in Mwea Irrigation Scheme to scare them away. They are for animals and he applied after I was out of office.”
Additionally, Uhuru has claimed that there was a plan to plant guns and drugs on Jomo during the Friday night operation.
“This gun issue is surrounded by lots of propaganda to divert attention from what has been happening,” he told the senior journalists.
“I believe they wanted to plant drugs and guns in my son’s compound.”
An angry Kenyatta says the incident hurt him.
“I went because of a distress call from my son; I was not drunk, I was extremely hurt,” he said.
According to the former President, none of the boys have received orders to surrender their firearms as has been claimed in the media and by top government officials.
