“Listen to Kenyans, the ground is turning hostile,” Mutahi Ngunyi warns Ruto

Prominent political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has offered advice to President William Ruto, calling on him to heed the voices of Kenyan citizens.

In a statement posted on his X account (formerly Twitter), Ngunyi pointed out that a significant portion of the Kenyan population has become increasingly critical of President Ruto’s administration under Kenya Kwanza.

Ngunyi emphasized that it is crucial for the President to prioritize the concerns of Kenyan citizens, particularly given the rising discontent among the populace.

He noted that gaining popularity abroad should not take precedence when the domestic front is beset with grievances.

Furthermore, Ngunyi urged President Ruto to dedicate time to address pressing issues affecting the nation’s citizens, rather than solely focusing on launching development projects.

He stressed that simply inaugurating projects would not be sufficient to quell the mounting concerns of the public.

In his statement, Ngunyi stated, “Dear Ruto: Take time to listen to Kenyans. The ground is hostile. And dishing out development at Uhuru Park will not help you. You are talking to yourself. Period. You are popular abroad with Muzungus. But at home, we are hostile. Take time to listen. Truth report.”

Ngunyi’s remarks followed President Ruto’s return from the United States, where he attended the UN General Assembly.

It’s worth noting that Ngunyi had been a vocal critic of President Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza government until he altered his stance in August 2023.

He publicly declared his support for President Ruto and acknowledged that his previous judgment had been clouded by a perception of dynasty politics.
