Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua and his Trade Counterpart Moses Kuria have been moved to less influential ministries as President William Ruto reshuffled his cabinet for the first time.
Kuria who has become infamous for his foul mouth is set to become the new Cabinet Secretary for Public Service.
Dr Alfred Mutua on the other hand is set to become the CS for Tourism and Wildlife.
Other notable changes in today’s appointments include Isaac Mwaura who will be the new Kenya Kwanza government spokesman.
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has been allocated more responsibility under his portfolio and is now set to become the new Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary.
President Ruto in March 2023 assigned DP Gachagua some foreign policy roles including directing engagements between international missions, as well as government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). These roles will now be taken over by Mudavadi.
The Deputy President is yet to comment on these new developments regarding his now reduced powers.
Rebecca Miano, who held the East African Community and ASALs docket will now take over from Moses Kuria.
CS Kuria has of late been shunned by the west due to his foul mouth, with the President leaving him out of the just-concluded US trip. Speculation is therefore rife that this could have been one of the reasons he has been ‘demoted’.
