Over 60 students from Eregi Girls High School in Kakamega County have been admitted to several hospitals following the outbreak of an unidentified illness.
Thirty students have been received at Kakamega Level Five Hospital, with twenty admitted at Shibwe Hospital. Another ten have been admitted at Iguhu Hospital.
The students are displaying similar troubling symptoms, primarily difficulty in walking.
Concerningly, reports suggest that more students are currently being rushed to various healthcare facilities within the county.
According to sources, initial laboratory tests have indicated that the affected students have elevated levels of electrolytes, signifying a loss of bodily fluids. This discovery has raised questions about the nature and cause of this perplexing ailment.
Medical experts from the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) are set to visit the school on Tuesday, October 03, to assess the situation and for further investigations into the situation.
