President William Ruto is set to embark on a three-day state visit to China, according to a statement released by State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed on Saturday.
The visit will primarily focus on the Belt and Road Forum in Beijing, emphasizing international cooperation and partnership in the realm of infrastructural development.
The forum, aptly named the ‘3rd Belt and Road Initiative (BRI),’ will further deepen the bilateral relations between Kenya and China while convening world leaders to discuss and promote infrastructure development and enhanced connectivity across continents and people.
In addition to attending the forum, President Ruto is slated to deliver a keynote address on ‘Digital Economy as a New Source of Growth.’
During this speech, he will highlight Kenya’s substantial progress in the information and communication technology (ICT) and innovation sector.
On the sidelines of the Belt and Road Initiative Forum, President Ruto is expected to hold bilateral talks with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, and engage with other global leaders to discuss mutual interests and cooperation.
Hussein Mohamed also announced that Ruto will take part in a Kenya-China Investors roundtable.
This event aims to underscore Kenya’s role as an attractive investment destination for Chinese companies, with a focus on forging mutually beneficial partnerships between the two nations and their people.
Kenya’s involvement in the Belt and Road Initiative is significant, with several hallmark projects, including the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), showcasing the nation’s dedication to fostering international cooperation and infrastructural development.
