The much-awaited results for the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination are set to be released today – Thursday, November 23.
Education Ministry sources confirmed that Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu will lead the official announcement ceremony at the spanking new Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) headquarters nestled in South B, Nairobi.
Machogu while speaking on Tuesday in Nairobi said there was no cheating in the exam that was conducted between October 30 and November 1.
“There were no cases of cheating. No cases of any kind of malpractice. We only had six cases which were only attempts to cheat. Out of 1,415,315 candidates, the only cases that we had were six,” Machogu said.
An astounding 1.4 million eager candidates embarked on their KCPE journey, while a formidable 1.2 million students tackled the KPSEA exams (Grade 6).
Notably, the 2023 cohort was the last to sit the KCPE exams as the ministry works on phasing out the 8-4-4 curriculum.
The government has slowly been transitioning the education system, making way for the full-fledged rollout of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) in primary schools.
Henceforth, students will be diving into the realm of the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) examinations, signaling a significant shift in educational evaluation methods.
