Kenyan boy band Sauti Sol have bid good bye to an epic 18 year career that have seen then rise to the top of the music world as Kenya’s most famous afro pop group.
The band has partnered with Coke Studio for their highly anticipated concert dubbed ‘Sol Fest’, on Saturday November, 4 which will mark their last performance as a group before parting ways.
Coke Studio will now be the official soft drink partner for the festival.
“Passion fuels everything we do at Coca-Cola, and nothing gets people moving, celebrating, and enjoying life like live music does. Music, just like sharing a Coca-Cola, brings people together, and when we mix them together, it creates real magic,” said Isabelle Kariuki-Rostom, Coca-Cola’s Marketing Director East and Central Africa
“Our goal for Coke Studio is to always be music-driven and fan-first by bringing unique music and music experiences to the forefront. We are thrilled to join forces with Sol Fest to share this experience with fans.”
The four-man band, comprising of Bien Aime-Baraza, Mudigi Savara, Polycarp Otieno and Willis Austin Chimano shocked Kenyans when they announced in May that they are parting ways.
“As close friends and business partners, the band members are eager to explore fresh creative avenues. They will embark on personal endeavours. However, their friendship and shared vision will continue to be the driving force behind their future projects,” said Sauti Sol.
“Each performance will be infused with a sense of deep love and gratitude as the ensemble delivers their timeless hits and fan favourites that have left an indelible mark on our collective memories,” they said.
“While the indefinite hiatus marks the end of a specific chapter, it also represents a new beginning for Sauti Sol.”
The group stated that the inspiration for their upcoming endeavors will continue to come from their friendship and common goals.
