Rapper and hip hop star Snoop Dogg has announced he will stop smoking marijuana commonly known in the streets as weed. The artist made the surprise announcement to his social media followers.

He said: “After much consideration & conversation with my family, I’ve decided to give up smoke.

“Please respect my privacy at this time.”

In the realm of hip-hop, few figures are as synonymous with cannabis culture as the iconic rapper, Snoop Dogg. Throughout his illustrious career, the West Coast legend has not only shaped the landscape of rap music but has also become a symbol of unapologetic cannabis advocacy.

Snoop Dogg, born Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., first burst onto the scene in the early 1990s, introducing his unique flow and laid-back style to the world. However, it wasn’t just his rhymes that set him apart – it was his unabashed love for marijuana that would become a hallmark of his persona.

The rapper’s history with cannabis dates back to his formative years. Raised in Long Beach, California, a city known for its vibrant rap scene and laid-back lifestyle, Snoop Dogg was exposed to the world of marijuana at a young age. As he navigated his way through the burgeoning West Coast hip-hop scene, his love for the herb became a central theme in his music.

Snoop’s debut album, “Doggystyle,” released in 1993, not only showcased his lyrical prowess but also featured numerous references to his favorite pastime. Tracks like “Gin and Juice” and “Tha Shiznit” became anthems for a generation, with Snoop unapologetically rapping about his experiences with marijuana.

Beyond his music, Snoop Dogg’s public persona became closely tied to his open embrace of cannabis.

His laid-back demeanor and trademark plumes of smoke became as much a part of his image as his signature braids. Snoop’s unfiltered approach to discussing and promoting marijuana set the stage for a new era of cannabis acceptance within the entertainment industry.

Over the years, Snoop Dogg has parlayed his love for cannabis into business ventures. From launching his own line of cannabis products to investing in the industry, he has become a prominent figure in the legal cannabis market.

His ventures include everything from branded strains of marijuana to a line of cannabis-infused edibles, solidifying his status as a pioneer in the intersection of music and marijuana entrepreneurship.
