Former Narok County Assembly majority leader Stephen Kudate has made startling allegations accusing Environment CS Soipan Tuya of expelling him from their marital home in Kileleshwa, Nairobi, when she assumed office.
Kudate claims they were legally married, having fulfilled all traditional marriage rites. However, in September 2022, Tuya allegedly deserted their home upon her appointment as CS.
Tuya has sued Kudate for monthly upkeep and child maintenance totaling Ksh.425,000.Kudate denies neglecting their shared children. He says that Tuya deliberately excluded him from participating in their welfare, asserting that he, despite being jobless, effectively fulfills his parental role with the resources at his disposal.
“As the head of the family, I was a man of means who provided adequately, and she knows that I am jobless, but with the little I have, I effectively play my parental role,” Kudate has said in court papers.
“I have taken care of her. She is out to frustrate me and wreck my life just as she did to the first husband from Kajiado, who took her for her Masters degree in Law in the United States after which she abandoned and dumped him,” he says.
Kudate has argued that he is better suited for custody of the minors, claiming that Tuya’s frequent local and international trips leave the children isolated and lacking parental care.
Highlighting that Tuya agreed to marry him despite his existing wife during his tenure as the Majority leader of the Narok County Assembly, Kudate insists he has supported all the children.
He denies shirking parental duties, accusing Tuya of cutting him off from the children’s schools and even denying him access for holiday trips.
Kudate expresses readiness to undergo a DNA test to confirm paternity. Additionally, he reveals that the two have a divorce case pending in court.
