Travelers heading to the western and rift parts of Kenya for the Christmas festivities were left stranded along the Nairobi – Nakuru Highway after a traffic snarl-up was experienced at Soko Mjinga in Kimende area.
Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale was among those affected by the hold-up that lasted for more than three hours on Friday, December 22.
“Stuck in a kilometres-long traffic jam as we snake our way to Kakamega. It’s consoling that a dual carriageway of the Nairobi to Mau Summit Junction is in our development blueprint,” he stated.
The gridlock which began at 7:00 am on Friday was blamed on motorists who were impatient and hence started overlapping.
Footage from social media seen by sauce.co.ke shows some impatient drivers driving through the forest just to maneuver the snarl-up.
Motorists plying the route expressed their frustrations over the snarl-up crying that it is now becoming a usual occurrence during festivities in Kenya.
