Tanzanian music powerhouse Diamond Platnumz has thrown his fans into a whirlwind of confusion after declaring himself single. Taking to Instagram, the WCB boss urged followers to stop speculating about his relationship status, insisting he’s currently flying solo.
“Niwatangazie Rasmi Kuwa I AM SINGLE, sidate wala sina Mahusiano na Mwanamke yoyote… hivyo nisiwekewe Mwanamke yoyote kama Mwanamke wangu, Itapotokea kudate ama kuwa na Mahusiano nitawajuza ama kuwatambulisha as I always do,” declared Diamond on Instagram.
This announcement comes as a shock, considering the persistent whispers of romance between Diamond and fellow Tanzanian singer, Zuchu. The two have been spotted enjoying cozy moments and even sharing a stage kiss – fueling intense speculation about their off-stage love life.
Adding to the intrigue, Diamond’s mother, Sandra aka Mama Dangote, recently downplayed the romance, calling Zuchu merely Diamond’s employee. This seemingly contradicts Zuchu’s own admission of jealousy and even property damage sparked by another woman’s kiss on stage.
Further complicating the picture, Diamond’s past pronouncements haven’t exactly proven reliable.
In February 2023, he declared singlehood while simultaneously encouraging suitors to pursue either him or Zuchu. He even set the bar high, demanding potential partners prove their worth, implying neither he nor Zuchu were interested in casual flings.
In fact, Diamond’s mother, Mama Dangote, and Zuchu’s mother, singer Khadija Khopa, have regularly denied that their children are in any relationship, stating that the two are just in a working relationship and nothing more.
On January 12, Mama Dangote was quoted saying that, as long as her doting son has not brought Zuchu home and announced his intention to marry her, she continued to consider him single.
“He has never brought Zuchu to me and said he wants to marry her. What I know is that Zuchu is his artiste. He can actually stay with 100 women but has not decided to marry. What I know is a wife is the one you take your dowry to,” she said.
