Police in Fort Worth, Texas, are currently detaining a 27-year-old Kenyan man accused of killing a delivery truck driver.
The man, identified as Christantus Omondi, is suspected to have killed Scotty Jackson, a delivery truck driver.
The victim, Scotty Jackson, was repeatedly struck on the head with a piece of firewood. The driver was on a routine delivery on Wendover Drive on the night of Saturday, January 13.
According to court documents, Jackson had been delivering firewood to a customer when the assailant launched the violent assault.
The homeowner reported that Omondi approached them while they were offloading the firewood from the truck and asked them to leave, claiming they were trespassing on his property.
Investigators revealed that after attacking Jackson, a naked Omondi also assaulted the homeowner.
The homeowner managed to escape the onslaught and sought help by calling emergency responders.
It has not been revealed why the attacker stripped naked at the time of the assault.
Kasey Deleon, Jackson’s daughter, expressed her grief and anger, describing her father as a hardworking individual always willing to help others. She labeled the attack as unforgivable, stating, “Right now, I’m angry and have hate for him, so I can’t forgive him.”
Omondi reportedly returned to an Airbnb where he was staying. Witnesses reported that Omondi had just moved into an Airbnb a day before the murder happened.
Law enforcement officers later apprehended him after a confrontation that escalated to the use of a taser.
In an emotional account, Deleon shared her last conversation with her father, urging him to be cautious during his final delivery. She is now seeking justice for the seemingly unprovoked attack that claimed her father’s life.
“I don’t know how to live in a world without him. I just want him to call me—to come home. And I’ll never have that,” Deleon, overwhelmed by grief, added.
Omondi is set to be charged with murder, aggravated assault against a security officer and obstruction of justice.
His bond has been set at USD 312,000 (approx. Ksh.50.4 million).
