A Siaya County official, who was reportedly abducted on Monday, has been discovered alive, stuffed in a sack by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives.
Nicholas Ooro, 37, an enforcement officer in Governor James Orengo’s administration is said to have gone missing while on duty at Siaya County Government’s revenue offices on Monday.T
DCI detectives conducting the investigation found the man in the sack that had been dumped in a thicket located in the neighboring Vihiga County. The Siaya County Government confirmed that the man is currently hospitalized and receiving treatment.
According to the officer’s relatives, they were informed about his disappearance by his colleague who was supposed to take over the shift from him. The officer’s wife mentioned that county officials visited their home on Tuesday morning looking for him after his mysterious disappearance.
“His colleagues came by the house yesterday, but we hadn’t seen him. When I asked why they were looking for him, they played dumb, noting that they had come to pick him up for work. Later my brother called, informing me that his body had not been recovered, but his uniform and phone had,” stated the wife.
The family had appealed for assistance from law enforcement officers and the public to locate the man on Wednesday, and the county government had confirmed his disappearance. The circumstances surrounding his abduction and the subsequent discovery remain under investigation.
